Real Halal Meat

Switch to Genuinely Halal Meat

In the past, when people ate meat they knew where the meat came from and more importantly who  slaughtered it. This element is critical in Islamic thinking as the person slaughtering the animal can either render the meat halal or haram. The Companions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) were so strict about knowing where food came from that they are known to have made themselves sick in order to expel food from their bodies if they discovered it was from someone untrustworthy.

Halal Slaughter

Halal or Haram? Do we Care?

In the modern day very few Muslims can honestly say they know where there meat comes from, who reared the animal, what it was fed on and who slaughtered it. Furthermore, many don’t even care. The mentality now is that if the sign in the butcher’s or restaurant says “halal” then it is fine to eat. We no longer question what we are putting in our bodies.

Through thorough research and especially through visiting abattoirs and speaking to their owners and vets, we very quickly discovered that there are many unscrupulous people selling meat as halal who know very well that their meat is anything but. For example, we know of one local abattoir where all the meat they produce is sold as “halal”. After a few questions we discovered that in fact none of the slaughter men were Muslim. What was and is happening is that the gentleman who brings the animals for slaughter is Muslim and uses this as the basis for selling on his meat as halal. How do you know you are not eating this gentleman’s meat?

This is one of many examples we have come across that would shock people genuinely concerned about what they eat.

In addition to the shocking lack of morals within the industry by such profiteers, people also need to question the actual state of mind of the people conducting the slaughtering. An abattoir will typically process thousands of animals, whether lamb, goat or cow a week. For the slaughter man this simply becomes a factory belt line of production. This mechanisation of the process means that the people actually ‘sticking(meaning cutting of the neck) may not always be in a state, whether physical, mental or spiritual, to ensure they are carrying out their jobs with the correct focus, intentions or even actions.

How do we differ?

This is where Abraham Natural Produce differs. All our meat is personally slaughtered by owner Muhammad Ridha. As a licensed slaughter man he personally takes all our animals to a friendly local abattoir, ensures all the animals are treated well and most importantly guarantees that they are halal.

When sticking he takes special care to be in state of wudhu, facing Makkah and with presence of mind and spirit.

Can you find any other halal meat outlet that can tell you 1) who raised your meat, 2) what is was fed on and 3) who slaughtered it?

Genuinely halal meat for genuinely concerned people. Don't compromise.
