Most of the Guinea Fowl sold in shops are intensively reared. All our guinea fowl are free-range and bought from a farmer we know and trust. Each guinea fowl is slaughtered by hand by ourselves to ensure it's 100% halal.
We are not always able to source guinea fowl so please contact us first to ensure we have stock before ordering.
History
The guinea fowl is native to West Africa and is known to have been a part of the diet of the ancient Egyptians, it also appears in Roman mosaics. Eaten more in France, Belgium and Itally Guinea Fowl have been reared for the table in this country since Elizabethan times.
Taste
You can substitute guinea fowl for just about any chicken recipe. The flavour is similar to that of chicken but it has a hint of gaminess simular to phesant but no where near as gamey.
It has a wonderful taste and a great alternative to chicken.
